Meet Dr. Emily Eccles
Compassionate therapy for meaningful change—rooted in science, nature, and connection.
I'm Dr. Emily Eccles, a licensed clinical psychologist based in Santa Barbara, California (CA#PSY33571). I work with adults navigating anxiety, OCD, trauma, and life transitions—especially those feeling emotionally overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from their sense of purpose. I offer both in-person therapy and secure remote sessions for clients across California.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care. I draw primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)—modalities that help you shift your relationship with painful thoughts and emotions, build self-compassion, and move toward a life aligned with your values.
What Therapy Looks Like
Sessions with me are active, experiential, and personalized. We might explore mindfulness, guided visualization, or practical tools for setting boundaries, facing fears, or reconnecting with yourself and others. My goal is to support you in showing up for your life with more clarity, courage, and kindness—even in the face of difficulty.
Clients often tell me they feel more emotionally grounded and empowered to make meaningful changes, not because the hard stuff disappears, but because they’ve learned how to meet it differently.
A Bit More About Me
Outside the therapy room, I’m passionate about animal rescue and rehabilitation, gardening, and spending time in nature. These experiences shape my therapeutic lens—I believe that our connection to animals and the natural world can open us to deeper compassion, both for ourselves and others.
My doctoral research focused on developing ethical guidelines for incorporating animals into therapeutic spaces—reflecting my belief in the healing power of cross-species connection.
